Fresh is Best with Good Seasons (Giveaway)

Aside from the sunshine, warm weather, barbecues and vacations another great reason for the season is the bounty of fresh fruits and veggies that are available during the summer months. I think I get a natural “high” visiting my local farmer’s market because I am in love with the big, beautiful and delicious produce that is overflowing the shelves.
 My family enjoys a lot of salads during the hot weather months like many other people do. When it’s sweltering hot outside the LAST thing you want to do is be in a hot kitchen with an even hotter stove or oven going. Salads and sandwiches are a bit summer time staple in my home.
I enjoy keeping a variety of salad dressings available for my family. Although I enjoy all the dressings nothing beats fresh, homemade salad dressing. There is a considerable difference in the taste when you make it fresh yourself. It is so easy to do with Good Seasons salad dressing mixes. All you need is the seasoning mix, vinegar and water. That’s it! Most people have vinegar in their pantry and of course water is easy to come by. The Good Season packets are sold where other salad dressing are sold for a fraction of the cost of pre-made salad dressings.
Good Seasons also has a starter “kit” that contains a cruet with a lid and two seasoning packets. What I love about the cruet is that it has marks on the side of the glass that shows you exactly where to fill the bottle with water, vinegar and oil. You can even alter the recipe to make the dressing with less oil too. The cruet also comes with an easy to pour lid that you can attach which is great for kids who tend to pour too much.
I made some Good Season All Natural Italian dressing last night using the seasoning mix, water, vinegar and water. I’m sorry that I don’t have any photos. My family was at the state park yesterday and I burned through all my rechargeable batteries taking pictures. I need to recharge them all.
I used white vinegar to make the mix and extra virgin olive oil. I’m sure you could easily change up the taste by substituting different types of vinegars and oils.
Nothing beats the fresh taste of homemade salad dressing. Not only does it add a zesty burst of flavor to your salad but it can also be used in other recipes. I like to marinade chicken in Italian salad dressing. You can whip up a batch of the Good Seasons dressings to use as a marinade anytime you need it. A small packet takes up a lot less space in the cabinet then a bottle.
